Literature & Philosophy
The swan icon of Serendipity School represents two of its most valued areas: Literature and the Arts — from the legend of the swan song and the myth of Orpheus’ transformation into a swan, to the ballet Swan Lake — and Philosophy, recalling associations of Socrates with swans, especially in Plato.
Serendipity School encourages self-reflection and metacognition in children and adolescents. Philosophy serves as a beautiful jeweler, cultivating the habit of asking questions about oneself, others, and the world. When posing questions such as “Why do I exist?", students are exposed to answers offered by philosophers throughout history and encouraged to discuss and reflect on them.
Similarly, our literary program emphasizes connecting prior knowledge and emotions with understanding the world and others, practicing textual inference, and exploring the relationship between meaning and expression. Serendipity favors analytical philosophy over continental approaches, for its clarity and logical rigor.
